A bank in Argentina now uses Bitcoin for international payments

Argentina’s Banco Masventas announced Monday that it will allow its customers to make cross-border payments using Bitcoin. alternatively, it will use Bitcoin for international transactions.

Bitex’s CEO, Manuel Beaudroit, told CoinDesk that this is the first time a local bank has adopted Bitcoin for cross-border payments.

Beaudroit said that the bank will soon start using Bitcoin for real customer transactions, and continued:

“The bank uses Bitex as a provider for international payments from customers to banks. Transparent for the customer, they don’t touch, they don’t see Bitcoin. We are a provider for them and they do not touch Bitcoin.”

Masventas’ main shareholder, Jose Dakak, said, “One of our actions in our partnership with Bitex is to use the Bitex platform for payment and collection transactions of our customers abroad. as a strategic partner.”
